How It Works
Our step by step process
1. Onboarding Call
To ensure you have all the information and support you need for a successful demo, we encourage you to schedule an onboarding call with Christie Cole and Arron Hartt. During this call, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your ideas, clarify any questions about the recording process, and receive personalized tips tailored to your project. Christie will assist with logistical details, while Arron will address any technical inquiries. This collaborative approach will help you feel confident and prepared as you embark on your artistic journey.
2. Record test footage and audio
To record test footage and audio, start by setting up your camera in the orientation and angle you plan to use for your final demo, ensuring it’s horizontal and capturing the painting surface clearly. Lock your focus and exposure to avoid shifting during recording. For audio, use a microphone if available (USB, lavalier, etc.), and make sure you’re in a quiet environment to minimize background noise. Record a short clip at the required settings: 1920×1080 HD resolution, 30 fps frame rate, and export the video in .mp4 format. Once everything is set, review the footage for video quality, lighting, and sound clarity. If you’re satisfied, send the test clip to Arron Hartt to review at [email protected] for approval before proceeding with your full demo.
3. Headshot and Bio Submission
To help our audience connect with you, we ask that you submit a professional headshot and a brief bio. Your headshot should be a high-quality image that clearly represents you, ideally featuring a friendly smile to create an inviting atmosphere.
In your bio, include relevant information about your artistic journey, style, and any notable achievements or exhibitions. Aim for a concise yet engaging overview that showcases your passion for art and what you hope to share with the community. This personal touch helps foster a sense of connection with viewers and allows them to better understand your perspective as an artist. Please upload both your headshot and bio along with your other materials to the designated Google Drive folder. Thank you for helping us create a vibrant and welcoming artist community!
4. Time to Film Your Demo
Now that you’ve prepared your setup and gathered all necessary materials, it’s time to start filming your demo! Remember to keep your camera positioned horizontally and focus on clearly capturing your painting process. As you paint, explain your techniques and share your insights to engage your audience. Be sure to film a brief introduction and conclusion, showcasing your smiling face! In the intro, greet your viewers and introduce what you’ll be covering, and in the outro, thank them for joining and reiterate key takeaways.
Here are a few key things we want to make sure are dialed in:
1) Framing & Layout – Your painting area should be fully visible (not cut off or obstructed), along with your palette, and leave room in a corner area for us to lay in your reference image throughout your demo.
2) Audio Quality – Your voice should be clear and easy to hear, with minimal background noise or interference.
3) Timing – Please keep your demo within the allotted time.
4) Playback Speed – We ask that no portions of the demo be sped up, as viewers prefer real-time instruction. If timing becomes a challenge, let me know, and we can explore solutions together.
5) Focus – You may find it helpful to tape your setup items in place so they don’t shift and ensure that your camera is set to manual focus on the area of your work so it doesn’t autoshift.
6) Teaching — Keep talking; even one minute of silence feels empty. We want to understand the how and why behind everything—color mixing, edges, brushwork, corrections, techniques, and philosophy. Rather than just showing what to do, show us how to do it and why we should, so we can keep learning.
Don’t forget to have fun and let your passion shine through—this is your opportunity to inspire others while showcasing your unique style! Once you’ve completed your recording, review the footage to ensure it meets the guidelines, then submit it for review. Happy filming!
5. Photograph Your Finished Work
Once you’ve completed your demo, it’s important to showcase your finished artwork! Take a high-resolution photograph of your painting, ensuring good lighting and clarity to highlight the details and colors. This image will not only complement your demo but also serve as a great promotional tool.
6. Editing Your Demo
After filming your demo, you have the option to either edit the footage yourself or let our team handle the editing for you. If you choose to edit your own video, be sure to follow the technical specifications provided, such as maintaining a 1920×1080 HD resolution and a 30 fps frame rate, and exporting it in .mp4 format. This allows you to customize your video to your liking, adding any personal touches that reflect your style.
Alternatively, if you prefer to focus on your painting and let us take care of the editing, simply send us the raw footage as it is. Our experienced team will ensure your demo is polished and ready for the audience while preserving your unique voice and vision. Whichever route you choose, the goal is to create a captivating demo that effectively showcases your talent and helps inspire others on their artistic journeys!
7. Upload Your Finished Videos and Paintings
After filming your demo and capturing your finished artwork, it’s time to upload both to your designated Google Drive folder. Ensure that your video is exported in the required format (.mp4) and clearly labeled for easy identification. For your painting, upload the high-resolution image you captured, along with any reference images and materials lists. This organized approach will help our team review your submissions quickly and efficiently. Once everything is uploaded, take a moment to double-check that all files are correctly labeled and in the appropriate folder. Sharing your completed video and artwork not only showcases your talent but also contributes to the community, inspiring fellow artists on their journeys!
8. Celebrate Your Contribution!
Congratulations on completing your demo! Take a moment to celebrate not only your hard work but also the impact you’re making on fellow artists. By sharing your knowledge and techniques, you are helping others learn the skills and insights that you wished someone had shared with you during your artistic journey. Your willingness to guide and inspire others is a vital part of building a supportive artistic community. Embrace this opportunity to create breakthroughs for others and foster growth in their creative endeavors. Your contributions can make a lasting difference, so take pride in what you’ve accomplished and look forward to the connections you’ll make through your work!
